How-to Paint a Chevron Wall

chevron wall

I’m usually one to take on projects whether it’s an easy task or extremely challenging project so when I decided to paint a chevron accent wall, I was happy and impressed to find out how easy it really was, HOWEVER, reality is…  it’s  time consuming so make sure you set some time aside for it.  Here is a step-by-step on how to get that perfect look!

Things you’ll need:

– Painters Tape (I used 3M Safe-Release 1”)

– Paint

– Small Paint brush for the corners

– Mini paint roller kit

Once you have decided which wall you will be working on, make sure you fill any holes prior to painting the base color and if you have textured walls, like I did, make sure to texturize any uneven areas.

Now, make sure you have the solid base color that will be the color of the dividing lines. In my case, I choose white to have some contrast with the other two colors that I was using.

Next, tape off the edges so you don’t get any paint on the other walls. You always want to have that clean and professional look even when you’re on a budget.

Now comes the hard part but this step will take back to simple math. You’ll want to measure the length of the wall and find the middle point (my wall is a 16 ft. wall so my middle point was 8ft.). Once you have found the middle point, you’ll want tape it vertically and you continue the same process until you’ve reached your desired size.

Next measure the height of the wall (mine is 8ft tall) so I broke it down to a foot at a time, which is where I marked to begin applying my chevron stripes. Remember to Keep a marker, pen or pencil handy to mark and keep track of where you’ll be applying the tape.

Yay! Now the fun part, paint the stripes the color of your choice and Let dry 🙂

Lastly, remove the tape and wah-lah!

Hope this is as easy for you as it was for me. Please feel free to comment or ask questions.

Lets just say I'm a versatile individual! I have a great passion for many trades and happy to share it with the world.
